Resumen Esta investigación tuvo como objetivo averiguar si los alumnos de primer año de la Universidad Mayor en Chile tienen las características propias de los nativos digitales, que definen autores como Jenkins y Prensky. Se pudo determinar que los alumnos de primer año de la universidad poseen caracterís-ticas de los nativos digitales, como hipertextualidad, multitarea y que prefieren la imagen por sobre el texto. No obstante, se pudo apreciar que pese a que tienen las características propias de una audiencia activa, no son productoras de contenidos. Asimismo se pudo observar que se apropian de la tecnología con fines sociales y no, con fines productivos. Abstrac This research aimed to find out whether freshmen at the Universidad Mayor in Chile, have the characteristics of digital natives that define authors like Prensky Jenkins and features. It was determined that freshmen college possess characteristics of digital natives, such as hypertext, multitasking and prefer the image over the text. It was observed that despite having the characteristics of an active audience characteristics, are not content producers. Could also be observed that appropriate technology for social purposes and not for production purposes.
